Quincy Jones Testifies In Wynn vs. Francis Court Case
Quincy Jones is one of the most celebrated members of the music industry, but on Thursday Jones spent his day in a Los Angeles courtroom. Jones has become a key witness in a case between casino gambling mogul Steve Wynn, and Girls Gone Wild founder Joe Francis.
The tension between Wynn and Francis started several years ago when Wynn sued Francis for $2 million that he claims Francis lost at Encore in Las Vegas, Francis had been a regular at the Wynn Resorts casino, but when he failed to pay, the relationship between the two media giants severed.
On Thursday, Jones was in court testifying after Francis alleged that he was told by Jones that Wynn threatened to hit the Girls Gone Wild founder with a shovel, and bury him in the desert. Jones disputed that conversation took place under oath.
Jones is key to the trial because of his relationship with the two men. The legendary music mogul has been friends with Wynn for 35 years, and currently is Francis’ neighbor. Jones’ friendship with Francis was exemplified when he attempted to bail Francis out of jail in Florida after he was arrested on charges that he filmed underage women for his hit video series.
Although Jones is friends with Francis, he admitted in court that it is not always easy.
“A lot of drama,” said Jones, when asked about his friendship with Francis.
Wynn is one of the most successful gaming moguls in the world. In addition to the casinos he operates in Nevada, Wynn Resorts is part of a group of Las Vegas gaming companies that has seen their stock take off after entering the Macau gaming market. Macau has become the top gaming destination in the world over the past five years.
